Plenty of Fish Owner Searches Opens Paid Dating Site Tuesday, 23rd June, 2009
Earlier this year, Markus Frind – owner of the free online dating site
PlentyofFish, com -- announced that he was searching for a site on which
to build a new dating network. He has recently set his eyes on
OnlineDating.org, and talks have begun between Frind and the site’s
owner. His new site will come as big change to existing Plenty of Fish
users; it will require users to pay.
When Frind created Plenty
of Fish in 2003, he was tired of seeing faceless dating corporations
prey on individuals who were simply looking for love. His mission was
to establish a free online dating site that put the customer before the
company. In just over 5 years, Plenty of Fish has already earned itself
a reputation as one of the most popular dating sites on the web, with a
Top Ten ranking in Canada, the US and the UK. All this time, Frind has
decided to keep his site free, vowing to make a difference for others
rather than a profit for himself.
However, Frind has recently
discovered that he’s losing out on huge profits and has decided to cash
in. Recently, he mentioned that since Plenty of Fish linked users to
competitor sites, he was giving up millions of dollars in possible
revenue. He decided that the only option was to obtain a paid dating
site or make his own. The result of his decision may now be Frind’s
merger with or buyout of OnlineDating.org.

Online Dating: Pay VS Free Thursday, 9th April, 2009
There is a constant battle in the online industry for similar services
that are offered at a cost versus a service of the same nature that is
offered free of charge. Sometimes the services or products are quite
similar in nature but are offered pay versus free.
There is
something that should be said in order to understand the concept of
getting a service for free online; if a service is offered completely
free of charge to the end user it does not mean that the service is bad
or of lesser quality.
What this simply means is that there are
other sources of revenue that could be paying for the service. Let’s
take online dating as an example. There are plenty of online dating
sites that charge a monthly subscription fee and then there are plenty
of dating websites that are free for people to use as they please.
The
sites that are free are likely making money in other departments such
as advertising and links instead of charging their client base a
monthly premium. There are a few differences that people may notice in
the pay sites versus the free sites.
Free sites may often
times have less features than those sites that have a monthly charge
associated with them. But in either case all sites cover the basics of
an online dating site. As long as the site is a safe source and
does not ask you for personal banking information or does not sell your
information to other sources then you can feel safe on that website.

The Importance of knowing who is on the Other End of Online Dating Tuesday, 7th April, 2009
Doing a little background check never hurt anyone, but now more than
ever it is important to know that the person that claims to be who they
are on the other end actually is who they say they are.
Just
as with everything it’s better to be safe than sorry, and this is
especially true when you pour your heart out to a complete stranger
over the internet.
The online community can be a very good
place to meet people but sometimes when your heart is involved it is
very easy to get hurt.
If you are careful when interacting
with people on online dating sites then you are likely to end up much
happier than those that are liberal with all their personal information
and can easily be taken advantage of.
Many people are there
for one reason, and that is to find love or just a friend or an
innocent reason of meeting someone but there are the few out other that
are there to take advantage of others and try to manipulate the
situation and get personal information in order to find bank account
information and other forms of info that can ruin your reputation and
leave your bank accounts without a penny to your name.
Online
dating is very easy to use and is a good way to meet other singles in
your area and in other areas from around the world but remember that
you should always use your common sense and do not discuss any of your
personal information that you would not discuss with a stranger at the
grocery store.
